Highly recommended

Having spent three nights at Number 47, Matt Stainer made me feel extremely welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed, my room (the Blue and White) was wonderful, and the setting is ideal. It's also centrally placed for Beckenham, Bromley and other shopping and restaurant areas (a ten-minute walk to Beckenham or Elmers End), as well as being close to central London.

Very highly recommended!

Peaceful Haven for touring performers

I found Number Forty Seven and its genial landlord Matt Stainer when my most recent show, Girls Behind, was performing at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley. I would certainly recommend it to other performers at the Churchill for its comfort, closeness to the theatre and (importantly) value for money.

Our agent had booked us into a nightmare of a place miles from the theatre. You can understand how delighted we were when we found such nice alternative accommodation from the digs list at the Theatre. Indeed, my co-star, Sue Devaney and myself were the first guests when the B&B re-opened in October 2007. The standard of cleanliness and decoration was significantly higher than some digs I have stayed in and the regime very flexible. Once we had the keys we were able to come and go as we pleased.

The rooms were great containing all that was necessary for a civilised life on the road – TV, CD player, ensuite bathroom, hairdryer and coffee making facilities. Sleeping till past midday was no problem and we had full use of the kitchen (fridge, microwave, oven) and so could eat when we pleased. There was also a lounge with deep cushioned sofas and a real fire – great for a glass or two of wine to help wind down after the show!
